‘Black Widow’ Tops Box Office This Year

Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow” has become the most-watched film in Korea so far this year amid a movie industry blighted by coronavirus restrictions.

According to the Korean Film Council, ticket sales for the superhero flick surpassed 2.3 million on Thursday, just 16 days after it opened here.

Although the film has not proved as much of a blockbuster as previous installments in the interminable franchise, it was a solid achievement in the circumstances.

The previous record this year was set by “F9,” the ninth installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise which sold 2.28 million tickets.

Directed by Cate Shortland, “Black Widow” stars Scarlett Johansson and is set between the cinematic timeline of the 2016 film “Captain America: Civil War” and the 2018 film “Avengers: Infinity War.”
