Steve Mowry vs. Marcelo Golm targeted for Bellator event in August
A heavyweight showdown between Steve Mowry and Marcelo Golm is agreed for August in Bellator, multiple people with knowledge of the news told MMA Fighting. The planned date for the bout is Aug. 13 in Uncasville, Conn., but there’s a possibility the fight gets booked for the following show on Aug. 20, sources said.
Bellator 264 will be headlined by Gegard Mousasi vs. John Salter for the middleweight crown on Aug. 13. Bellator has yet to officially announce the Aug. 20 card.
Mowry holds a perfect 9-0 record as a professional MMA fighter after going 7-0 as an amateur. The 28-year-old heavyweight has won five straight under the Bellator banner with four first-round finishes.
Golm (8-3) was originally set to make his promotional debut this Friday at Bellator 262, but Linton Vassell withdrew from the card with an injury. Golm won back-to-back fights in Florida following a 1-3 run in the UFC between 2017 and 2019.
