Report: Massive blow for Leeds as £31m target says ‘yes’ to join Euro giants

Leeds United have suffered a massive blow in the race to sign Nahitan Nandez from Cagliari.

According to reports from Tuttomercatoweb, Nandez has said ‘yes’ to join the Serie A champions.

Now, Inter and Cagliari will discuss the deal for the transfer of the player. It has been claimed that Inter will sign him on loan with an option to buy him permanently next summer.

The Nerazzurri are offering him a four-year contract (one year plus three after the redemption) to sign the Uruguayan international.

Fabrizio Romano claimed last week that Cagliari want to sign Radja Nainggolan from Inter, after landing Dalbert from them on loan (with an option to buy him permanently).

Leeds have been heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old this summer, but they failed to reach an agreement with the Serie A club.

Last week, Corriere dello Sport (print edition, July 13, pages 22 and 23), claimed that Leeds were pushing hard to sign the midfielder.

Cagliari are steadfast in the decision to stick with the player’s asking price, thought to be around €36 million (£31m).

Earlier this month, reports emerged that Leeds were looking to sign Nandez for a fee of around €30 million and the Whites were willing to pay the sum in two instalments of €15m each.

However, Cagliari would prefer two payments of €18m for their star midfielder.

It seems Inter have come up with a better financial offer than Leeds. The player now wants to join Inter, and the news will come as a blow for Leeds.
