City police are asking the public to help them identify a “vehicle of interest” in their probe of the murder of 20-year-old Mehdi El-Hajj Hassan in January.

The light-coloured four-door sedan was captured on surveillance video in the area of Lorry Greenberg Drive at about 3:00 a.m. on Jan. 16, police said in a release Tuesday.

At about the same time, El-Hajj Hassan was fatally wounded near the Hunt Club Road intersection.

This newspaper reported that police believed El-Hajj Hassan was driving when he was shot by an unknown assailant through the driver’s side window.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or homicide was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service’s homicide unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers toll-at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppers.ca.
