Prince Harry has been secretly writing an explosive tell-all memoir about his life in the royal family, set to be released during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.

Since marrying Meghan Markle and moving to Santa Barbara in the States, the Duke of Sussex has spoken out about his unhappiness and made many damaging claims about his famous family.

Bombshell comments in the Emmy-nominated Oprah interview have caused a rift between brothers William and Harry, while Meghan slated Kate Middleton for making her cry over flower girl dresses.

Ahead of the book’s dramatic release we look back on the major ‘Megxit’ events likely to fill its pages, which have ripped our royal family apart.

November 2018, Wedding woes

Reports emerged that Meghan made Kate cry at a bridesmaid dress fitting days before the wedding.

In fact, Meghan revealed the opposite. Speaking to Oprah she explained, “She was upset about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.”

Trouble was brewing before the big day

Kate sent the bride-to-be flowers and an apology note but, the Duchess continued, “What was shocking was, months after our wedding, the reverse would be out in the world.”

“[The press] really seemed to want a narrative of a hero and a villain.”

December 2018, Brothers battle

While the world thought Kate and Meghan were at war, royal reporter Katie Nicholl revealed the bigger spat was between the boys.

According to her sources, William and Harry fell out around Christmas 2018.

Harry told William he wasn’t doing enough to include Meghan in the family. Soon after, he was spotted seemingly ignoring the Duchess as she attempted to speak to him.

January 2019, suicidal thoughts

While pregnant with Archie, trolls had begun taunting the Duchess for ‘flaunting’ her baby bump.

The Duchess opened up to Oprah about asking the royals for help, but they denied her psychiatric support and discouraged her from leaving the house.

Meghan was all smiles at a charity event at the Royal Albert Hall, but inside she was battling strong suicidal thoughts.

She said, “I just didn’t want to be alive any more. That was a clear, real, frightening and constant thought.”

May 2019, Archie arrives

A happy time turned sour for the couple, who discovered that their son would be referred to as ‘Master’ not ‘Prince’.

Meghan added: “The first member of colour in this family isn’t being titled in the same way as other grandchildren would be.”

The couple have since revealed that a senior royal approached Harry with “concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he was born.”

October 2019, royal rift confirmed

Prince Harry practically broke the internet when he admitted the very real rift between him and William.

Speaking on ITV’s documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Harry said, “We’ll always be brothers. And we’re certainly on different paths at the moment, but I’ll always be there for him, as I know he’ll always be there for me.”

November 2019, festive drama

Harry and Meghan announced they wouldn’t spend Christmas with the royal family, instead enjoying a six-week holiday in Canada.

The palace revealed the couple would be with Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, instead of at Sandringham – a decision supported by the Queen.

But a source told the press, “The rift between William and Harry is one of the main reasons behind their decision.”

“William is the future king. There is going to be some competitiveness between him and Harry. That already puts a rock in the relationship.”

January 2020, stepping down

Harry and Meghan stunned the Queen, announcing that they would officially step down from their royal duties on March 31.

According to a source, “William was blindsided” by their decision. And their news came right before Kate’s birthday!

November 2020, royal snub

Prince Harry requested a wreath be laid for him in London on Remembrance Day.

Apparently the request was turned down by courtiers because he didn’t represent the royals in an official capacity anymore.

But, it’s thought the Queen wasn’t aware of Harry’s request, but he was “deeply saddened” by the snub.

March 2021, Oprah airs

Just days before Harry and Meghan’s shocking interview aired – much to the royal family’s alarm – palace aides accused the Duchess of “bullying”.

They alleged she bullied a palace adviser while she was a senior working royal.

Meghan’s team responded, “The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself.”

June 2021, Lilibet is born

Just a few weeks on from Prince Philip’s funeral – where an icy William and Harry walked apart – the couple welcome Lilibet Diana.

But Harry didn’t tell William directly, instead texting peacemaker Kate.

Following the funeral a source said, “There is a lot of distrust in the camp and everything is still very, very raw.”

“Elizabeth is proud of William for taking the dignified approach, unlike Charles, who still hasn’t forgiven Harry for dragging his name through the mud.”
