“Green Knight” Pulled From UK Release
David Lowery’s long-awaited Arthurian horror film “The Green Knight,” starring Dev Patel and Alicia Vikander, has been pulled from a UK theatrical release. Cinemas there have reportedly been advised to withdraw all trailers and posters until further notice.
Entertainment Film Distributors reports have chosen to withdraw the film just two weeks ahead of its planned theatrical release over growing concerns surrounding the surge in infection rates due to the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus.
The Delta situation has seen multiple productions in the U.S. and U.K. halted in recent days. Roger Michell’s Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren-led comedy “The Duke” has also been pushed in the UK, moving from early September to next Easter.
“The Green Knight,” which has landed hugely positive responses from early reviews, is sticking around in the United States with a domestic release date of July 30th still planned. A24 has just released a series of Hot Knight Centerfolds, poster one-sheets dedicated to Dev Patel’s sex appeal.
