Club director confirms Tottenham have submitted an offer for 22-yr-old
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu for weeks now.
Recently we covered reports that the London club have submitted a bid for the 22 year old Japanese international.
Now the club’s director Riccardo Bigon has confirmed that the Premier League club have indeed submitted an offer for the player but there are other clubs interested in the defender as well.
Tomiyasu deal. Bologna director Riccardo Bigon to Sky Sport: “We’re not in a rush to sell Tomiyasu… Tottenham made a bid, it’s true – but many clubs are interested. He’s tempted by the Premier Lesgue chance, we’re gonna wait for good conditions”. 🇯🇵⚪️ #THFC #Spurs — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 19, 2021
The 22-year-old Japanese defender can slot in as a full-back as well as a centre back and his versatility could prove to be very handy for Nuno Espirito Santo next season.
The Portuguese manager used a three defender formation at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tomiyasu would be the perfect fit for such a system.
The Japanese defender could partner the likes of Joe Rodon and Toby Alderweireld at the back next year. Davinson Sanchez could be an option for Nuno as well but the Colombian has been linked with a move away from the Premier League side.
Bologna director Bigon has confirmed that they are in no rush to sell the 22-year-old defender this summer.
It is safe to assume that his future is unlikely to be sorted before the Olympics.
Whether Tottenham can agree on a fee with the Italian club for the 22-year-old remains to be seen.
