Bauke Mollema wins Stage 14 of Tour de France

Bauke Mollema of Team Trek Segafredo has won Stage 14 at the 108th Tour de France on 10 July.

Bauke Mollema maintained only a very small lead over the fastest part of the peloton in order to win the 184 kilometres long Stage 14 of the Tour de France from Carcassone to Quillan on July 10.

Bauke Mollema also was awarded the most combative rider of the stage as he managed to break away and keep going for most of the stage leaving the group behind.

He averaged 71.6 kilometres per hour over the whole stage but was 41.6 kilometres per hour in the final 20 kilometres of the stage.

His first stage victory was in 2017 and was another one attempted and finished solo.

Guillaume Martin took time on other riders to move up into the second spot overall behind race leader Tadej Pogacar.

Rigoberto Uran is now in third place overall though has lost no time with Jonas Vingegaard in fourth, Richard Carapaz in fifth and Ben O’Connor now in sixth place.

Canadian Michael Wood took the mountains classification lead from Nairo Quintana averaging 21 kilometres per hour on the climbs but Pogacar retains the white jersey for the best young rider.

Mark Cavendish came over the line way behind most others but retained enough points to keep the green jersey for the sprint points leader.
